This giant conifer Is more like the trees I grew up with as a child. Unlike NC deciduous forests, evergreen forests in Montana keep their foliage year round. The original bark has stretched and cracked with the additional girth of the elderly Fir. Forests such as these can be found in the Rocky Mountains.
